Sperry & Shaw OG Shelf Clock (Circa 1845)
An early example of an American OG shelf clock, the case veneered with flamed mahogany, which has a soft french polished finish, a lovely hand painted picture of the State House in Hartford, sits beneath the wooden square dial with a round pierced centre, gold foliate painted spandrels adorn the corners.
The clove shaped blued steel hands are powered by an 8-day, weight driven movement which chimes the hours on a gong.
Inside is the original label showing the makers name which is Sperry & Shaw who were based in New York.
