S Lilly, Sheraton style Barometer, Edinburgh, (Circa 1820)
A fine mahogany, banjo shaped mercury wheel barometer in Sheraton style, the case has an ebony and boxwood stringing, framing the figured mahogany veneers, with shell and floral paterae, the whole is capped by an architectural top complete with a brass final.
The 10" (250mm) long thermometer box has an engraved silvered scale and sits over the 8” (200mm) silvered dial, signed S.Lilly Edinburgh, which is surmounted by a polished brass bezel with flat glass and an adjustable setting hand to the centre.
This barometer has been fully restored, re-tubed and in perfect working order and carries a 12 month guarantee.
