George Dobbie
George Dobbie Longcase clock Falkirk (1790)
An excellent quality 8 day long case clock by George Dobbie numbered 670, in a case of dark Cuban Mahogany.
The typically Scottish, elegantly proportioned case that has a swan neck hood and carved roundels with ornate leaf fretwork below and fluted pillars.
A boxwood stringing is to the hood door and the dial is what is known as a single sheet "13" silver dial", with fine engraving throughout, ornate cut blued steel hands to the centre, above which is the secondary seconds dial with the date aperture below.
The top of the solid trunk door has fine carved roundels and a thistle shaped finial to the centre.
Trunk Door and base are also inlaid with a satinwood marquetry with Adam style urns to the centre, all of which has a fine colour and patination.
A fine original clock standing at 86" (2185mm) High.
