Tavern Clock Tear drop
Abel Panchaud Tear drop Tavern Clock (Movement Circa 1840) Case & Dial 2003
This elegantly shaped, tear drop tavern clock, was manufactured for a private customer.
The movement is an existing tavern clock movement but the case I made and the chinoiserie decoration was carried out by an excellent artist, who specializes in this type of work, and I'm sure you will agree it's quite outstanding.
The case, contrary to what you may think was not so much difficult to manufacture, but it is rather time consuming, as is the decoration which also takes several weeks from start to finish, reasons of which are far too many to go into here.
In the gallery pictures below, you will see one of the pictures showing the inside, pendulum and unusual weight required for the eight-day movement.
The proportions were obtained from another clock, to get the balance right. As with all items manufactured many years ago, the shape and balance of the case is what gave them a certain elegance, and if you don't get the balance right you may as well not have bothered in the first place.
Should you contemplate having a purpose-made clock case, tavern, or otherwise there are so many designs to choose from, please take a look further in the web site, New Cases for instance.
Please don't hesitate to make contact if you like the above item or have something different in mind.
