60"(1525mm) High X 13" (330mm) Wide Trunk x 8½" (216mm) Depth, 20¼" (515mm) Wide Hood, & 15"(381mm) Dial

Edward Shepley, Norwich style wall clock (Circa 1800)

An excellent quality Norwich style timepiece wall clock, with an octagonal hood, constructed from mahogany veneer on pine with boxwood inlay.

The 15" (381mm) circular, off white painted dial, with a black Roman numeral chapter ring has the Arabic outer and minute marks, and along with the hands which are pierced and faceted blued steel, have been left un-touched other than cleaning, as they are all in excellent condition.

This original brass, timepiece movement has four knopped pillars, winds in a counter clockwise motion and runs for well in excess of eight days.

The above is housed in an octagonal hood, constructed from mahogany veneer on pine, the door is inlaid with a double boxwood stringing and has convex glass to the centre, all of which sits over the mahogany veneered trunk, complete with the original inaccessible lock internally, just below the base of the dial, with full length reeded corners to front and sides.

This trunk door has quite an impressive triple arched top to the centre, which is a typical feature of Edward Shepley clocks, complete with a striking flame mahogany veneer and boxwood stringing, the beginning of which starts from the boxwood inlaid quadrant base, which is separated from the trunk by a small half round and Scotia mold.

The above item is in excellent condition having been fully restored, and is guaranteed for 12 months.
