Currently Under Restoration
At present in the workshop Edm,d Scholfield Oak Longcase (Circa 1840).
This little item became available just of late so we thought we would use it as we call it, the latest hospital job, that is to say we will do a bit at it every now and again when we have time.
As you can see it really has been in the wars, seemingly at one time the case was being transported from A to B, and somebody didn't take very good care of it and allowed something to smash up against it, which has left it in rather a poor state to say the least.
The movement and dial are OK thankfully, (see gallery pictures below), so when it's all done with a few newish bits here and there to the same design molds that are existing and alteration of the hood, (the top should never have a vertical beading around that section and we can see that it was a later addition), then this will make another fabulous clock.
It's 30hour movement with false winding holes to the dial, a brass dial with silver chapter ring has lost it's silvering many moons ago (since time began, I think), but exquisite engravings of flowers, swags, birds of paradise, etc and signed Edm, d Scholfield Rochdale, to the top half of the dial and a calender aperture below.
On this occasion, we are going to try and put further pictures on this page as the project progresses, so keep a look out for the alterations as they occur and then eventually it will be in the Inventory in the Longcase section.
