New Case, Oak Longcase Clock

Tho Teissier Corral Lutterworth, Movement and Dial (Circa 1760),  Andrew W Firth, Oak Long case Clock 2010.

A small oak Long case with an original 30 hour movement, complete with engraved dial, Tho Teissier Corral Lutterworth, (a well known quality clock maker within his region) the movement has a lovely brass and silvered dial with double cherub head and cross spandrels.

The original, hand cut blued steel hand, shows the time being powered by the fully restored movement which strikes the hours on a bell.

I thought I would make the case design simple but elegant, most clocks of this period were country clocks made from English Oak. The hood has traditional turned integral pillars with gilded capitals to the hood door, below an elegant but rather apt diamond shaped fretwork, with a scratch molded surround. See gallery below for further pictures.

A long quarter sawn door, framed by a cross banded oak half round mold with lentical (to show the pendulum) sits above the razor edged base with shaped, bracket style feet at it's base.

All of this, makes up the petite looking, yet nicely figured case. Look inside and you will see period looking saw marks to the side panels along with a worm eaten back board to resemble age.

Dial and movement (circa 1760); New Case 2010 (or is it 1760)?
